Let's go Flyers?
I admit it: like vsp and all the other Flyers fans, I was pretty fed up with a team that could use the second-highest payroll to load up with talent and then lose in the first round. I was fed up with a GM who acts like a player and endlessly tinkers and constantly lies and seems to cause disruption.
So I haven't watched much this year, until last night when the Flyers totally beat up on the Islanders, at Nassau, to complete a loss-free November. OK, team, you've got my attention. Let's see what you do with it. |

The Flyers are playing some great hockey right now. Unfortunately, they are the odd sport out, as the Eagles and Sixers are stealing all the attention (I don't know why the Sixers are...they're mediocre thus far.).
And Clarke has been unusually quiet this year...maybe he's making up for being such a media whore the last 3-4 years. |

Clarke is biding his time, waiting to trade Roenick for three bobbleheads and an ice cream vendor sometime in March, and trying to figure out in advance which goalie will be this year's playoff-flameout scapegoat.

The goalie in question will be Ron Hextall.

Thai food + Tie Domi
I just have to mention that I saw the Maple Leafs for the first time last night. Watched the warm ups and Tie Domi was only 36 inches and a piece of plexi away from me. Fascinating fellow. I believe that I am as tall as he. If he didnt shave he would be very furry. He is amazingly brick-like. Only one teeny tiny visible scar on his lip, like one side of a pencil mustache. Mr Warch mused that he cannot recall ever seeing him bleed. Hee hee. Blue and white are classy uniforms. And I am a sucker for stripey sox. I have to admit in contrast, the Wild looked like a deranged flock of Christmas elves in their new third jersey. Domi scrapped and won. Eddie shut us out, made some great glove saves, the entertainment value made getting beat less painful. |

yeah, I remember that and cringe. I like both the Niedermayer boys. They are the good guys. I also remember him flipping and taking on the fan while in the box. No arguing that Tie is a goon. Just fascinatingly designed for the job. Like a cartoon. We were looking at some of the pimple-faced rookies during warm up and wondering about the lockeroom dynamic. I bet they give old Tie a wide berth.

That's actually a sharp looking alternate jersey the Wild have though...old school style.
I like some of the throwback items that are out there, but I think it's gone overboard in some cases...and it's so damned expensive! $200 for some of the jerseys?! Jeez! |

The 3rd jersey could certainly be worse...I am a sucker for the ties. I was hoping for something like Colorado's, simple, with Minnesota diagonally...oh well. Dallas' new logo is bizzare. There was some commentator talking about Boston's 3rd and describing them as being in "their jammies tonight"- cracked me up.
