Batteries
Food & Water (for humans and kitties)
Car tanked up
Beer

What else??

charcoal or gas for cooking, hot dogs and hamburger meat, buns, ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion

ice for drinks

duct tape for repairs (get the tough kind)

slim jims for food if the cooking part gets too damp

note to all y'all

DO NOT USE CHARCOAL OR GAS FOR COOKING (OR HEATING) INDOORS.

get wet if you must, go hungry if you must. Don't fire that stuff up inside.

It's going to be windy. I'm going to bring my lawn chairs inside. Maybe the garbage cans too, although they are in a little nook and don't have much room to blow around.

Also going to clean the leaves out of the drain by the basement door. That will help keep the basement flooding to a minimum. Our pantry is pretty full, and we can always cook stuff on the gas stove top. The power will almost certainly be out for several hours at a minimum. Hopefully not days.

We trimmed the dead limbs out of our huge oak tree a couple years ago, and it's still in pretty good shape. That's the only thing I'm really worried about.

The only person who died during Cyclone Yasi died of asphyxiation caused by running a generator indoors.

Please don't do this. The irony must wear off pretty quickly.
