They tell more than what the cashier should charge

In the same way the conventionally grown fruits will be labeled with a four-digit number (for eg. 4590) and genetically engineered fruits with five-digit number beginning with 8 (87590). Fruit and vege are pretty well labled in the major supermarkets over here as to the origin and status as far as being organic goes, but I didn't know about the numbers. Thanks Bruce.

My grocery store must not sell any GMO produce. I've never seen a code starting with 8, and I look at all the numbers because I weigh and tag my own stuff.
