McDonalds pulled out of Iceland at the beginning of the recession.
The franchise rules meant that the food/ materials needed to be imported from Germany and it was not financially viable. At the time they closed they were selling the most expensive Big Macs in the world. It doesn't help that there are only enough people in the country to fill a medium sized city elsewhere in Europe. Which explains why there were only three branches. |
