It turns out to be a misconfigured website ELSEWHERE sending me hundreds of emails because their forum is down, followed by spam filtering on this machine working overtime attempting to figure out whether this incoming load is spam.

I used to operate this website but my client lost the contract for it. The new operator does not have the ability to edit the configuration to change the administrator email address.

This sort of thing used to make me bitter.

It would be a shame if all that email was sent to the person who decided not to renew your contract, wouldn't it - nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Or redefine failure as "business opportunity" or "more work".

I have people sometimes apologize for a broken/misconfigured computer, like it was their fault that somebody else decided that it was a good idea to let the default power management scheme *turn off* the network card to conserve power. When the machine was plugged into the wall.

No, it's not your fault, please don't feel badly. Hey, even the repair guys deserve an easy one once in a while. Additionally, if you didn't ever have any problems, you wouldn't have any need to call or apologize. But my children would be hungry. So don't worry. I like fixing things.
