In the early hours of this morning we had a colossal thunderstorm.
This wasn't a muttered 'wossat?' and back to sleep. This was the real Vincent Price emerging from the woodwork offering. Fifteen thousand lightning strikes were recorded in, I think, an hour and the hydrant refuelling system at Stansted airport was put out of action after it was struck. And now, as I type (2200), we're in the midst of a repeat performance. I dare not look at the 60' conifer at the bottom of the back garden as I fear for its future as a tree. If you see what I mean. The rain is torrential and the humidity is making me weary. Anyway, we didn't lose the electricity supply last night so there's a better than evens chance we'll do so tonight. Right. Wish me luck.
