Is that a scratch on the picture or did one of your lines catch a Seagull?

The boat had 7 large fishing reels for trolling, the ones farthest back on either side had outriggers as did the center rod, the outrigger is above the frame of the picture. That was the lines don't get easily tangled.

The line from the center fishing rod goes up 15 feet or so to an outrigger and from there goes farther out to the ocean than the lower lines. It is held by a rubber band, if a fish strikes the rubber band breaks and they know that a fish is hooked and the set the hook soundly. All other lines are reeled in so there are no tangles.

Yeah, I know how the equipment and protocol works, it just from that picture the line looks vertical and far from the boat. Apparently an optical disillusionment.
