"Full-size" cars must be under 80 inches wide, or else the law says they have to have clearance lights. Average "family cars" are now 4.8 meters in length (up from 4.5 meters in the 1990s.) 80 inches = 6.67 feet wide 4.8 meters = 15.75 feet long 6.67 x 15.75 = 105 square feet (or 98.45 square feet in the 90s.) I told you, I love Fermi problems. |
