That's certainly been true with my daughter's cohorts. In my her kindergarten class, over half the birthdays were July and August! Last year, in second grade, her teacher told us at our conference that she was a little taken aback at the start of the year at the way the class was interacting.... and then she realized a large portion of the class had just lately turned 7, and socially it was almost like having a lot of first graders.
