What pisses me off is there was a punctuation error in their stupid paragraph. It hurt me to have to go back and "correct" my typing to match their mistake.

86 WPM with "impressive" accuracy.

My handwriting has always been horrific, and when my mom asked me when I was in the 10th grade what I wanted for Xmas, I told her that I wanted a typewriter. I took two complete years of typing in HS (now 30 years in the past), and never looked back. I type a lot in my job, and, of course, online.

It is one of the very few skills I have.

Translated to IMer, or Newspeak, as I like to call it.

That's not typing...that's my dog thinking it's a cat and jumping on the keyboard

I have worked as a secretary and as a medical transcriptionist.

My skills have suffered since I don't spend ALL of my time at the keyboard (even if it seems like it here) but once upon a time I could type 100wpm.

Oh, and I'm not a "touch" typist and have never taken a formal typing class.

Real typists cringe when they see my keyboard technique, which was established by working on old-style CRTs connected to a mainframe and Decwriters. Remember, kiddies, in the early days of computers the manufacturers cut some corners to make the keyboards cheaper ... so I ONLY ever use the left hand shift key, among other weird hand placement issues.

Well, I'll be damned! There's a shift key over there on the right side of my keyboard! I honestly never noticed that before.
