I've had braces. I've had oral surgery.
If they can do it without braces at all, just surgery, that's the option you really want. Sure, it's goddamn painful for a while. But it's better than years of braces (I think I had mine for about 5 years... ugh. And they still didn't work properly, because my teeth are damn stubborn and my retainer actually came apart in my mouth, not that my orthodontist cared) |

i couldn't have braces when i was younger due to sports, then the military. so now at 30 i'm tired of crooked teeth and want to fix them. i don't want to have braces for the next couple of years... it doesn't exactly instill confidence in a 60 year old couple to see their financial advisor still has braces on. i have a friend who got a bit lippy and left his front teeth in a bar one night. he had posts put in and has absolutely perfect chompers, i like that idea. but, is it worth the pain? how long before your mouth is back to relatively normal? time off work?
