I've tried a number of country names and all come up with that location. I don't think it's a "china" issue. More likely that our expectations of Google's ability to behave as though it comprehends our meaning have temporarily execeeded reality.

I googled for china immediately after looking at LJ's house and got the locations of every chinese restaurant in a 20 mile radius of his place.
Which is good, because now we can stop off and grab some mu shu and shrimp toast to take when we go visit.

As you can see from this satillite photo, an aerial view of my new neighborhood...hey, wait a minute??? I'm living in the middle of a stinking cotton field!!!???
Obviously, this shot was taken about two years ago. Well, you get the idea.

Hmm... let's see, this was obviously taken during the day since all the cars that normally park on the street are gone, and is at least 2 years old because there's still a pool there in my backyard.
I hope they update it at least once before we finish leveling and sodding the backyard--it would be awesome if we could see our nightmare construction site from space. |

Because a pool costs around $300 a year in supplies and a crap-ton of physical labor several times a week just to keep it blue during the swimmable months. There was no "shallow end;" it was basically 4 feet deep around the edge and 5 feet deep in the middle, and the deck was an ancient monstrosity that had rusty screws sticking out of it all over the place. And there was no backyard to play in because the pool took up all of it. The whole thing just needed to go. Plus, we have a free neighborhood pool about 3 blocks away.

for those wanting a swimming pool that is not labor intensive and cheaper to boot, i have three crucial words: Salt Water System . we absolutely love ours. we add a bag of salt once each year, backflush it once per week (about 3 minutes), and swim damn near every day. it is so stinking inexpensive and the salt water doesn't irritate the skin or eyes the way a chlorine system does. we love it.
