I don't think anyone here is going to argue that al-Qaeda is a fun loving group of guys who should be encouraged to do what they please. They don't need to go away so much as they need to be eradicated. They harm their own cause by making such announcements because then those in the West who advocare staying out of the internal affairs of Middle East nations are painted as al-Qaeda sympathizers or wuss's who are giving in to terrorist demands.

That doesn't hurt their cause. They want the US to keep stirring stuff up over there.
