Krazy Kats
We went to Krazy Kats last night, and it was so good I thought I'd tell ya about it.
The building is located in Montchanin Village. We circled several times looking for parking before Jim gave up and asked where the fuck we should leave our car, as there appreared to only be parking for 6 vehicles. After obtaining directions to the parking lot and walking back to the restaurant, we were immediately seated in their fantastic dining room. The decor could be described as elegant, silly, and comfortable, and I really liked it. The cat pictures are just great. The white tiger striped chairs were downright posh and stayed comfortable throughout the very long dinner. Our waiter, Grimly, greeted us and asked if we'd like to start the evening off with a caca.. uh, cocktail - and Jim burst out laughing. When the turd-shaped brown bread was served, we all burst out laughing. The couple seated near us began to stare, which was annoying - until they came over to talk, having recognized my brother in law as a friend of their son. Then they pointed out the twins from the Antiques Roadshow, but explained that they would not lower themselves by approaching said old dudes. We managed to hold ourselves back as well, and got our fill of celebrity news from Bill (b-in-law) who had just returned from a trip to Vegas, where he had been at Pure for Paris Hilton's 25th b-day and played poker in the general vicinity of Eddie Murphy at the Wynn. Drinks arrived and my Cosmo was the coolest, in a stemless martini glass set inside a bowl of ice, even if it was a bit drippy. They offer a chef's tasting menu but none of us were into it and I can't remember what was on it other than it started with mussels and ended with chocolate cake. I ordered; foie gras and diver scallop with white truffle oil and some type of delicious pear (and I don't even like pears) winter squash soup with cold duck confit and crispy sage winter veggie and lobster crepes Jim ordered; tuna tartar with kobe beef somethingoranother (a fancy name for fruit roll-up consistancy I think, but it sure was tasty) jumbo lump crab bisque in preserved lemon compotepan seared fillet mignon with lyonnaise potatoes, baby carrots, horseradish-veal jus Everything was excellent to amazing, no one had a single complaint, and we finished up the evening with creme brulee, raspberry tarts, and coffee. I would absolutely, definitely go back. The service alone would be worth a return trip - as Jim and I are plagued by bad service wherever we go (friends have even pointed out that service plummets when they are with us and it doesn't appear to be our fault). Grimly was the man.

LJ asked for directions? Why that traitor.....breached the solid front....tis a dark, dark day.
![]() Sounds great, Jinx. Channel 12 requested large pieces of furniture for a Road Show in Philly, recently. That's probably why the twins are in the area.

The place looks interesting. I really wish they would put the prices on the menus they post on their site. I finally found a review that says that entrees are $20-30.
I have an anniversary coming up and I might take us there. How does it rate versus Mendenhall? BTW, did you thank Lumberjim for taking you there. ![]()

Rich, my experience with the Mendenhall is limited to lousy wedding food and so-so brunch ( I hear Food Source has a kick ass brunch now - have you been?), I have not had dinner there. I'd say Krazy Kats is smaller though, more intimate and friendly - less historic inn/continental cuisine/same old-same old.
I'd say the main courses ran $25-$30, first and second courses ran $10-$15. My mom gave my sister and I gift certs for our anniversaries - thanks for reminding me to call and thank her. ![]()

Nobody got cheated out of any money or anything, he just took it on himself to plant this ringer to try and bolster ratings. They weren't sure the show would succeed, but I guess they didn't have to worry. ![]()
