				Eagles release Trotter

Who would have thunk it? He's a fan favorite and a 4 time pro-bowler, but now he's 30 years old. Do you think it's a good move? I think they should have kept him. While he's not the same as he was 2 or 3 years ago, he's still one of the best and better than anyone else on the team, at his position.

I don't really know, but his complete and utter lack coverage against anyone - the tight end or runningback - made him too large a liability. Andy Reid and Joe Banner's draft picks have to step up at some point.

That's a shame, especially since he redeemed himself after the bullshit in '01 and '02. I didn't watch much football last year, but if he wasn't stepping up, time to go.

I think its a good move, if not late. Out with the old, in with the new! 26-27 is old, unless they're a rare talent IMO.

The Eagles have always used speed and timing in their D, so it's a case of where you lose a step and it matters a lot. The guy who is replacing him is like 20 pounds lighter... time will tell how this works out.

i haven't watched trotter closely, but the defense certainly missed him during the years he was in DC. He's the balls.

yea but he hits like a fuckin mac truck. i've seen many a RB slip through the d-line only to have a one on one with the turf, compliments of the axeman.

I'm a Eagles fan, but his time had come. Those hits were in the past -he isn't catching those running backs anymore. I wish we hadn't let him go to Wash in the first place.
