years and years ago when i was in the air force i dreamed that i got one of those middle-of-the-night phone calls to tell me that my dad had died. i had already gotten out of bed, pulled myself together, showered dressed, packed my bag, and was calling a cab to the airport when it finally registered that it had been a dream.
yuck.
