My partner and I had arranged a 'date' together. This is a big thing, because with the children we don't get time out. I'd arranged sitters and so-on, and had plans to take her out on the town. However she decided to go along to after-work drinks. So I rolled up in the car outside her work, after dropping off the kids, not knowing that she'd already left for drinks and waited. ...and waited. ...and waited. Then I started calling her cellphone to see where she was. It rang through to voicemail. And again. And again. I got a little frantic; she hadn't come out of her work (that I couldn't get into to find her), and she wasn't answering her phone. Anything could have happened. I was on the verge of calling the police. And then I saw someone I knew from her work. 90 minutes after she was supposed to have finished work. I ran up and asked them. "Oh, she's at the bar down the road." I race down there. And 'lo, there she is. Chatting on her phone to a friend. Having not heard all of my calls through to her cellphone, she heard it ring when the friend called through. So I was fuming and knew that it'd be all bad if I grabbed her then. So I took a look, made sure she was okay, and took off to grab the kids from the babysitters. Then I came back, picked her drunk ass up and took her home. I'm still, really, really, bitterly annoyed about it. |
