Are you sure that it is in the center of kitchen and not off to the side!
Maybe you should take a tape measure and find the center of the Kitchen to make sure the center of the kitchen is where you think it is.

Husband calls the floor area around my side of the bed DSW for this very reason.

But it won't be. Once you've interfered with it by measuring it, who knows where it'll end up?
