He's just using them to sketch out an art idea and see if anyone has the resources to actually do it. At least, I hope so. Pillow, go get a grant. Seriously, make up some metaphysical mumbo-jumbo, add these pictures, get some quotes for beds, find a place you can do it, liaise with the fire brigade (hell they'd enjoy watching and would give you advice on how to create and control the fire) ... approach your local arts council ... voila! fame and fortune... maybe.
