Yup. It drives my friends and family mad that when they are in dispute with someone I have a tendency to try and put that other person's perspective to them. What they actually want is for me to say "yeah, the heartless bastard" instead of "yeah, I see how that would be annoying, but they may not have meant it in that way...if you think about where x is coming from..."

My boss does that. It can get irritating but she's usually right. She's also a very good person, so I try to take her opinion to heart. Not that I can be really cynical or anything.
