Below is my precis of the article by Miranda Hitti, WebMD Health News and reviewed by Louise Chang, MD. 167 people in 17 states have been affected: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. No deaths reported. Potential carriers: Raw red Roma, raw red plum, and raw red round tomatoes, or products containing those types of tomatoes, UNLESS they are from the following States • Alabama • Arkansas • California • Georgia • Hawaii • Louisiana • Maine • Maryland • Minnesota • Mississippi • New York • Nebraska • North Carolina • Ohio • Pennsylvania • South Carolina • Tennessee • Texas • West Virginia • Belgium • Canada • Dominican Republic • Guatemala • Israel • Netherlands • Puerto Rico Other safe tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, tomatoes sold with the vine still attached, and homegrown tomatoes
