In this game, the draw is probable, but the Germany win seems the more likely.

Again, the draw is the most likely.
Italy is in fact, superior.
What makes them superior is their defence.
Spain, at this time, is not as strong defensively as they were at the start of this competition.

In baseball news, the Angels contnue to win.
They hold first place in the American league with a 46-30 record.
The Rays have moved up to 1&1/2 games to the falling red-sox.
The Cubs sweep the falling White-sox in the battle of Chicago.
The Mets are now only 3&1/2 games behind Phillie....this shopuld turn out a tight two horse race as the Braves season is now over.
The NL west is getting more depressive every day as all teams continue to lose, overall, holding 40 more defeats than wins, lol.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs NY Yankees

I'm well aware that the Pirates home record is greater than the Yankees road record, however in this case, Rasner is pitching against a pretty weak overall line-up.
Gorzelanny and the bull-pen have to face an on fire, well rested, Yankees line-up!

Florida Marlins vs Tampa Bay Rays

There is no comparing these two teams.
The Rays will end up in a two horse race with the Yankees in the AL East, while the Florida Marlins are almot guarenteed a 3rd place spot as the Braves season is over while the Mets and Phillies will clearly run away in their innevitable tight race.
The Rays line-up really plays well when Sonnastine is pitching.
After all, he has an 8-3 record.

I've been watching Peavy with a microscope.
He pitches well, no doubt, however it is highly unlikely that he will see a 7th inning.
Can Mauer and Morneu hit against Jake? Absolutely!
The Padres bull-pen has become weak.
The Padres line-up remains extremely weak.
This pays very well!

dude. Germany shows up for big games. More to the point, Turkey was a team of walking and crawling wounded. They only had 15 players who could even pass their fitness test. They were joking about having their 3rd string keeper playing as forward. If it hadn't been for the injuries I'd agree, but the odds were obviously in Germany's favor. They didn't run away with it, but they certainly nicked it in the end.

C'mon Spain. If Aragones sticks with his usual top name starters Russia will run away with it I think. If he starts his hungry kids who actually work better as a team, I think they'll win.

I don't understand why Spain is the favorite here.

Because Russia has played well enough, but Arshavin has had an incredible tournament. He is playing how people thought Ronaldo would. BUT he's only one man. Spain doesn't rely on any one player. If Torres is closed down, Villa steps up. Iniesta having an off day? Fabergas is there. They're playing well as a team. But they are week at the back so we shall see.

no thanks. for me the games are just for pleasure, i don't mix money with it. i also don't make predictions for win/loss because no matter what i think, i know the game hasn't been played yet and anything can happen in 90/120 minutes.

I'm not busting your balls because you called it wrong, just commenting on how it went down. There aren't exactly a lot of threads about football/soccer around here if you haven't noticed.

That being said, I already made my halfhearted prediction. If Aragones starts with the big names, Spain loses. If he picks the best team, Spain wins. That's what I expect. Either way, as long as it is an open, attacking, entertaining game i don't really care which way it goes.
