Is he really a 9/11 Truther or is it just hype?

President Obama’s “green jobs czar” Van Jones has been targeted again and again by conservatives for his controversial views and now they’ll have another item to use as fodder.

Mr. Jones signed a statement for 911Truth.org in 2004 demanding an investigation into what the Bush Administration may have done that “deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”

His name is listed with 99 other prominent signatories supporting such an investigation on the 911Truth.org website, including Code Pink co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans, comedienne Janeane Garofalo, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and others. He's identified as the executive director for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the statement, which he founded before going to the White House. The statement is available here. Mr. Jones is number 46.

Mike Berger, a spokesman for 911Truth.org, told the Washington Times over the phone that all of the signers had been verified by their group. He said 9/11Truth.org board members “spoke with each person on the list by phone or through email to individually confirm they had added their name to that list.”

If you were to receive all your news from any one of these outlets, or even all of them together, and you heard about some sort of controversy involving President Obama's Special Adviser for Green Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, your response would be, "Huh?" If you heard that that adviser, Van Jones, had apologized for a number of remarks and positions in the recent past, your response would be, "What?" And if you were in the Obama White House monitoring the Jones situation, you would be hoping that the news organizations listed above continue to hold the line -- otherwise, Jones, who is quite well thought of in Obama circles, would be history.

media bias leads to a bias in how they report things. They're hardly likely to pass up the opportunity of a news story though. They'd still report something they just might report it differently. It is completely ludicrous to think that there is some kind of conspiracy of silence going on with all those media outlets. Did any of them report things about Pelosi? or did they remain silent because she was a dem and on Obama's team?

I agree with Bruce. Asking for an investigation does not necessarily suggest that he believes it. Also, this would not directly affect his job in the way that, say his being a Creationist would.

Considering that we have sitting Congressman calling for "birther" investigations, with not a peep from the moderate or 'sane' conservatives, I'll chalk this one up to partisanship.

BTW, most of the 'mainstream' media also gives a free pass to nutjob conservatives (and liberals) in government. There's simply too many out there for it to be news.

While I was at the hospital waiting to be let into the ICU at 0500 Saturday, I saw a commentator on CNN talking about Van Jones. The guy said "He's an acknowledged communist. What's he doing in the White House?"

CNN calling someone a commie. It near took my breath away.

They also showed the No Black Columbines video clip.

He didn't quit his job because the people smearing him had anything that actually mattered. He quit his job because he doesn't want dishonest, scummy, sleazy, worthless, Republican smear machine going after him and his family because they were mad that he told the truth about the Bush administration and because he didn't want to allow the Republicans use insurance company PAC money they've gotten to take attention away from health care reform and environmental protection legislation.

Republicans are desperate for a win and they are being backed with a HUGE amount of money from health care insurance companies. They want to give President Obama a black eye, but it really doesn't matter. If the Democrats stick together, the health care reform will pass. They don't need a single Republican vote to make it happen.
