i bet it would work though I have seen stuff that would work with i type of battery and not another ( Reg -v- Alkaline )

The current rating is about the maximum current the battery can deliver to whatever it is powering. So long as the voltage is the same and you are not lowering the current rating nothing will happen except that you may need to recharge rather less often.
