That would make US aid to Haiti about one penny of that one penny....to a close and poorest neighbor. IMO, we can do better as a nation (and not discounting at all the outpouring of generosity of the American people in response to the tragedy), but at the same time, we need to guarantee a better bang for the bucks...and that is where the NGOs come in rather throwing $$$ at the Haitian government.
