For Franz Klammer's downhill, they still had markings at the edge of the course between the gates. They just weren't painted.

The crosswise markings were absent. but have been used for years on undulating terrain and in poor weather.

I think they painted the full course because they had fog cancellations and possibly prepared the course to be run in the fog. That was a lot more paint than I've seen on any downhill run though Turin was almost as bad.
