ok, I've read this whole thread and still can't figure out what a hipster really is. Do they do something weird or just dress like the pictures featured above?

I think it's a "type" but with the money to back it all up. Like the rich hippies - like the kids who followed the Dead back in teh day. They were usually from pretty well-off families. they were just "experimenting" with the vagabond lifestyle. what got me wondering just exactly what defines a hipster was a stephen colbert bit about how one borough of NYC (Williamsburg??) had the least percentage of census returns and it was a "hipster" neighborhood.

I know they are supposed to wear ironic T-shirts.
