Considered inaccurate, the platinum-iridium bar was replaced by lumberjims heid as the standard benchmark for a meter.
It was replaced however when it was discovered that you know who's brain produced 1,650,763.73 wavelengths of the orange-red emission line in the electromagnetic spectrum of the krypton-86 atom in a vacuum every time she thought about baby kittehs.
