Ouch.
I have family there by marriage. Thankfully only one the outskirts of Christchurch and the rest widely disseminated, so I won't be pulling any "My Aunt's sister's boyfriend's cat died you bastard" responses. And yes, my Uncle (the Kiwi-marrier) called from Brisbane today to report no-one was affected (and to check up on Grandad).
