You missed the whole point. The show was loosely based on the symbolism, not the statue itself. The idea is that these mythological creatures warded off evil.

Honestly John, I wasn't aiming at the whole point, or any point at all in fact, I was only exercising my pedantry gland as I'm prone to do from time to time. I did say so right at the start. Sorry.

I know the real-world aspects of gargoyles as well as well as the mythological aspects of gargoyles tho. Why? Cuz I not only look things up, but I asked a practical expert on all things mythological...who just happens to be my mom.
