Joe Biden's speech may not have been the best of all speeches, but he got to me.

I bought into Biden's persona during his '72 campaign.
During an outdoor press interview, he answered questions and I liked his answers.
But what sold me was his unconscious caressing of his son's head and face while he talked.
As a young father, I recognized a man who truly loved his son.

It's hard to believe that back then, a politician could be forced out
of his campaign for some plagiarized lines in his speeches.
I was so disappointed when he dropped out.

In any case, tonight one part of his speech did get to me again.
When he said (in so many words):

Quote:
My dad never failed to remind me—that a job is about a lot more than a paycheck.

It’s about dignity. It’s about respect. It’s about being able to look your children in the eye
—and say honey, it’s going to be okay, and believe it was going to be okay.
For some people... a job is only a paycheck, and a paycheck is only $.
