I hate all the shortbread tin visions of Scotland out there, bears no relation to the actual lives of most Scots nowadays. For years before devolution this speech by Renton out of trainspotting was how a great many of us felt.

Now it's about time we actually grew up as a nation and voted for independance, it's a natural way forward
