My dad used to say something to the effect of "You can do [have] anything you want as long as you are willing to pay the price."

That would encompass being an asshole to a cop because [insert psychological/butthurt problem here].

We can all make choices. The guy was an asshole looking for a problem. He couldn't let it go at being stopped, then took it to court, then appealed... Meanwhile there are far more important cases waiting to be tried. I think the cop may have been on to something worrying for the wife in the car. The guy sounds like he is a complete douche who bullies anyone around him.
