Would Congress cut off funding if Bush gave the order? How's that work? Bush could drop the current arsenal of bombs but get no new ones? Bush could use the current supply of jet fuel, but buy no new fuel? Can Congress shut it down before it starts, or does it take a while?

They could pass a bill saying specifically that the use of military force against Iran is not authorized without prior Congressional approval. I would be amazed if Congress actually took back their constitutional authority though.

There has been rumors of an attack on Iran for the past three years now. Every time more "evidence" comes that an attack against Iran is coming and every time it doesn't happen. I don't think it is going to happen.
Yet, of course more evidence is piling. More and more newscasts are reporting Iranian responsibility to deaths of US soldiers and we declared Iran's Revolutionary Guards a terrorist group (source). But lets say we do attack Iran. Iran's army is not Iraq, they are much much stronger and have had many years to prepare for a US attack. Even if we do defeat their main army like we did to Iraq's, they are much more prepared in guerrilla warfare and they will be united, no more civil war, all attacks will be against our soldiers. If we do attack Iran, that will truly be a second Vietnam. Also, I forget the name of the missiles they have, but I've read reports of how they have weapons that will tear through any ship we have in the Persian Gulf, in any waters. That also doesn't have anything to do with what will happen to Iraq. Then I am wondering what troops we are going to use. The ones in Iraq right now? That sounds very unconvincing, we can barely handle Iraq right now, we wouldn't stand a chance in Iran. If we pull the troops from Iraq what will happen to Iraq? Looking at this, if we do attack Iran, I don't think we are going to do in the same way as Iraq. We would use much more bombing campaigns to archive our goals (what goals?). Then we have to deal with Iran's relations with China, another mess. When it comes down to it, attacking Iran will be hands down the stupidest thing Bush or any president has done in the past 100 years or maybe even the whole history of our country. Another reasons I don't think it will happen, I have doubts on our administration's intelligence but this is beyond dumb. If we do attack Iran, I think I might start believing in conspiracy theories ![]() Edit - BTW, if we do attack Iran, I will go to every anti-War with Iran protest that I can.
