“Having the respect of your constituents is fundamental for a member of Congress. In light of Anthony Weiner’s offensive behavior online, he should resign,” the Pennsylvania congresswoman, who serves as chairwoman of recruiting and candidate services for the DCCC, told POLITICO.
I think at this point it would probably be a good thing if he would go ahead and resign,"[/quote]

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, said Tuesday Weiner should resign because he lied about the scandal.

And Democratic sources told POLITICO that members of Weiner’s staff are looking for other jobs.

Even one of Weiner’s closest Republican friends says it’s time for him to go.
Quote:
Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) said he is “sad” for Weiner because he’s “lost the trust and faith” of people around him. “Since he made the admission, I think he has no choice but to step down,”

Probably all just posturing, but its a lil early for them all to be jumping ship. I'm wondering if he ever met any of these women or? There has to be more to this.

He made himself a target of the press and is very distracted right now.

This is a neutral effect. Many, (manymanymany) times politicians attract the attention of the press. This practically always presents the opportunity to portray the politician as a target by some.

He may well be distracted, there's a lot going on in a situation like this. But I don't see how this has impacted his job performance. EVERYBODY has stuff going on, and the magnitude of these kinds of events runs the gamut from trivial to catastrophic. How each of us behaves in the face of this universal human condition is what *I* believe should be the evidence on which we should base our judgement.

Is he getting his job done?

--as an aside--
For those that have their morality offended, I would observe that there are reports that his wife has made a statement that she'll stand by him. Would those calling for his resignation question her judgement too?

Dick Armey, a Republican, intentionally attempted to corrupt this nation's government to enrich and empower himself. Part of the biggest scandal (by dollars) in American history. And almost not posts from our extremists.

A Democratic congressman exposes his penis. You would have thought Saddam launched his weapons of mass destruction. At what point does an extremist political agenda become insulting to everyone in the Cellar? Why so many posts about Wiener. Why did these same people never once ask in eight years what any patriot would ask - such as "When do we go after bin Laden?" And almost no complaints about a real scumbag and wacko extremist - Armey?

Perspective. Or should I say emotional bias never stops replacing intelligent thought. Still waiting for quotes from Limbaugh and Fox News so that we can all be saved from evil Democrats and their naked penis.

I am not really offended by what he has done he its just titillating news. But really asking about questioning his wife's judgement ? Yah I question her judgement. Do I offer her my own, of her husband? No its her life.

I just think Souder is more of a hypocrite.

The argument is that he made a vow to remain faithful to his wife, and he broke that vow, knowingly and repeatedly.
He also made a vow to serve the people of NY, honestly and to the best of his ability. Now we are left to wonder whether he considers remaining true to the latter vow.
Further, one of the main things we look for in an elected official is good judgement. When to exercise caution, when to take a risk, etc. He has shown monumentally poor judgement in his private life, which raises questions regarding his judgement in other areas.

In a story that gets weirder by the hour, the ongoing saga of Rep. Anthony Weiner has a new twist. His wife is pregnant.

Weiner and his wife, Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have told close friends she is in the early stages of pregnancy, the New York Times reported.
