I've been doing painting for most of my adult life and have no trouble cleaning the roller using a strong stream from my garden hose, the trick is to angle the roller so that the spray does not go back on you and make the water hit the edge of the roller and not the center. The roller spins faster and faster and you go back and forth and the centrifugal force pulls the paint out of the roller and leaves the knapp just fine. I then remove the roller from the handle and rinse the inside and the handle and hang them to dry. Of course living in the south makes this easier then up north in the winter time but it does work.

That being said, one of my first jobs was for a guy who was a real skinflint, not only with my pay but with the materials. He had me use a roller to apply contact adhesive for making up a Formica counter top and when I discarded the sticky roller he admonished me that
I should have used a gallon of lacquer thinner to get the roller clean! Some rollers are just meant to be thrown away!

I admit, I'm a disposable-tosser too. I also buy cheap brushes and toss them. IMO, life's too short to clean some things for re-use. When I'm done painting, I'm usually so damn tired all I wanna do is wrap it all up in a wad of newspaper and be done.

OTOH there are some people who even wash out ziplock baggies for re-use. Also maybe they don't wash paper plates, but I've seen them wash foam ones, foam meat trays, etc., reuse jars and cans, wash plastic utensils, etc. I'd say there is a very real market for this.

Even filling it and pouring out twice, also, it uses less water than you'd use just in the sink or with a hose. Water costs are an issue for some people.

I'm not saying this is the most awesome, genius gimmick since the Sham Wow, but I still think it's kinda neat.

I'm with Juniper on tossing rollers and brushes. I buy the cheapos, use them once and then discard them.
