Escapees in Texas back in Custody
Some idiots escaped from prison on January 28th. They're back in custody now. From MSNBC:
Gambill, 23, of Terral, and Bagwell, 24, of Waurika, were convicted in the 1996 slaying of Heather Rose Rich, a 16-year-old cheerleader from Waurika. Each had been sentenced to life in prison and had recently been returned to Montague for further proceedings. Gambill, Bagwell and the victim’s former boyfriend said they feared Rich would accuse them of rape after a night of drinking and sex. They took Rich, who had passed out, to a remote creek bridge in Montague County and shot her repeatedly in the head and back. Her body was found a week later. People amaze me. Assuming that they *didn't* rape her, and their story is true - wow. I wonder if they had any basis for it, or if they just got paranoid? Like "Oh shit, she might accuse us of rape. We'd better kill her." Like they weren't going to get caught. Fear of being caught for one crime causes two people to commit a greater (in the eyes of the law) crime for which (why don't people understand this yet?) they will get caught (and did). Now they're spending the rest of their life in prison. People amaze me. |

complete. fucking. morons.
the only possible reason i can think of for being so paranoid is their ages. how old was her ex boyfriend? and was he her boyfriend up until they killed her? and did he have anything to do with the actual killing, or just the sex and knowing that the other guys were going to kill her? but wait, this happened in 1996. so they were 18 and 20 then, about? morons. yeah, i don't ever understand how people can seriously think that they'll get away with shit like that. sure, it happens, but not often. watching all of those discovery channel forensics shows leaves me in awe of the advances crime professionals have made when it comes to tracking stuff. but to escape from jail, even...idiots. |

do you KNOW that they raped her, or are you just saying that based on what this thread says thus far? do you have other background info on this story that i haven't seen?
i'm not one to dismiss any rape as consentual sex, trust me. i'm just wondering if it was rape because i hadn't read or heard anything about this case until now. unless we know if they raped her, we can't really say that they did. Quote:
accusations of rape do not mean that a rape was committed. based on this quote i am assuming that they were worried that she wouldn't remember right, or would, after being drunk, fuck up some details. or that's what they're saying, anyway. also, "drinking and sex" doesn't mean that it's only drinking on their part and that the sex was forced, or unwanted on her part. maybe she was drunk and wanted to have sex with them, but they were afraid she would fuck up the story in her head or something. who knows. regardless, i think it's a stupid reason to kill someone. |
