My personal knowledge consists of seeing pictures of people with red teeth and gums. Or few teeth and red gums.

Betelnut has to be chewed with lime to create the vampire look . It is chewed and then spat out . I am told that the pavements on an island in Micronesia are painted red to make these splashes appear more aesthetic .
Cancer of the mouth and oesophagus is associated with excessive betelnut and lime consumption . The lime is the baddie , of course , not the betelnut itself . The effects are mildly narcotic ..... along the lines of kava I would say . It does not inspire violence , just a sense of relaxation with the added bonus of a scary red mouth .
