Quick Help: PC Speakers

Every thing's been working fine, been playing a lot of Oblivion my newly dL'd game but this morning I woke up and my front speakers aren't working. It's totally random. I checked my audio console, set it for 5.1, checked my THX diagnostics and all the speakers work fine except front left and right. I even switched the plug of a front speaker and rear speaker and when I tested it the initial front speaker spoke out "rear right" when I tested the rear right speaker on the comp! So the physical speaker is not the problem, why won't my computer recognize anything configured to the front speakers?

For a while I had a problem with the driver for my sound card. The card came in two versions, and the driver would switch to the wrong version, screwing up the output to the jacks.

Waking up precedes most problems, in my experience.

It's either the driver or the card. A card could have a failure that just affected the fronts.

Well waddya know!
I unhooked the green plug to my sound card because earlier I hooked my headset into the mic AND green plug. Therefore my front speakers weren't even plugged in, the headset still was.

Funny, idin't it.....
