July 12, 2007: World's tallest man marries

Congratulations to the world's tallest man, Bao Xishun, who stands 2.36 metres (7 feet 8 inches) tall. He is married.

IotD followers will fondly remember how Bao rescued dolphins by reaching into their stomachs.

Xia Shujian, his new bride, is 1.68 meters (5 feet 6) tall.

Bao was previously worried that they couldn't live together because he tends to break any beds he sleeps on. But a local furniture company donated a newly-made special bed and other furniture.

Quote:
"The most important piece is the bed, since I broke two beds before, and some people started to call me 'Break two beds'."

The new bed is 9ft long and 7ft wide: "I hope I won't break this one also," added Bao.

That kind of man could probably dress as a tree, rob a bank, and get away with it.

the proper course of action is to quote spudcon in your signature line. So we are reminded of your awesomeness every time you post. Not to say that we aren't already.

Well, 'two sheds', now we're on Monty Python... The last picture reminded me of the 'buying a bed'-scetch: http://orangecow.org/pythonet/sketches/buybed.htm

Had a 7'2" room-mate. He was also very muscular. It was very odd.

Reminds me of some mafia/mob type movie, one of the characters was a guy called 'Jimmy Two Times', cause he said everything twice.

I believe that the artistic kind of personality is intrinsically individual, by definition. I'm always uneasy with artists who join any kind of cause, because I think, what a shame, because very shortly their talent will fade. Once you put talent to the service of any cause, it's diminished, because you inhibit the unconscious from sending its strange and bizarre impulses as to what you should do, and begin to operate from a conscious concern about what will best serve the interests of the group or party.
- Peter Weir (director, _Dead Poets Society_ and _Witness_)
