I cannot get my modem to work in Debian 3.0 Woody, 2.4 kernel option. I get the dreaded LSR safety check engaged message whenever I try to use pon.
My modem worked just fine in 2.2.xx. I installed the ppp_generic modules as well as the other ppp_ ones. setserial information looks fine. I changed the jumper on my modem to reflect the com and irq being used by both windows and 2.2.xx Linux. I've done searches on google and the various Debian sites but found no answers (or any that worked for me). I'm hoping one of you might have the answer. My modem is set up as ttyS1 (com 2, irq 3). Thanks!

What specific kind of modem is it? Are you certain it's not a winmodem?

My modem is a Zoom LT Faxmodem. It is a hardware modem and not a winmodem (manual has instructions for DOS and it worked in Debian Potato without needing to go to the linmodem site and downloading drivers).
