Letter as sent verbatim to the Houston Chronicle, what do you think?

Am I pissing off the Establishment?

The proposed cabinet level office of Homeland Security is a good idea; in fact, it is long overdue.

In support of this proposal, I would suggest moving all of the operational resources of the Drug Enforcement Agency to this new department, to bolster the intelligence expertise thereof.

After all, Mr. President, what is more important? Incarcerating taxpaying, productive, stressed out, good citizens of the United States of America who may need medicinal marijuana to get through their pain? I cannot imagine this country has such a vested interest in depriving these unfortunate people of whatever comfort is available. Instead, we should be neutralizing these madmen who are bent on destroying our American way of life.

Hey Tim, you might want to pull your addy and ph. # off your post. With the traffic that comes here, you never know who the hell could call you.

I don't agree with the OHS. While it will sound like what others are saying, it just seems to me that it's more bureaucracy.

Posting your address, phone number, or full name on the internet is a bad idea. Most likely you'd just get prank calls, but you never know what some psycho might do.

Good letter man. You can't fight a war on two fronts, so if we are going to have a war on terrorism is only makes sense that we should quit the uselsss war on drugs.

Man. I was talking to a girl last night. Or the night before. Whatever. I'll leave her nameless to protect the gullible, but she's not someone I've mentioned here before. Anyway, we were talking about the legalization of drugs and how she was totally against it. Well, in under an hour, I had her strongly agreeing that marijuana, at the very least, should be legalized. Score!

She's also against the legalization of harder drugs and prostitution. Prostitution will be the next one I work on, and then harder drugs.

Prohibition was one of the best things to happen to the nation. Man, you can argue against outlawing anything by just drawing a few parallels!

Nice letter, I'm not sold on OHS either but if we can get rid of a known menace in a trade, I'm all for it.

Yeah, moving DEA personnel to OHS would be a win-win situation. No one loses a job, and we stop at least one waste of time.
