FWIW I generally get linux distros via bittorrent, but when I need one really fast I go and get one from a mirror directly. BT is actually slower for such things. For porn it's nearly unusable at this point. I would use limewire for that.

i use soulseek for music mostly (if i remember that it is actually still on my computer)
bit torrent for software and tv shows.
