"He's a very lucky boy. He was saved because he was hit so hard. Any softer and he would have bounced off the car and been crushed under the wheels," said a police spokesman.

A very lucky dog, I hope he finds a good home... close enough to Marco Menozzi that he can go over and bite the bastard.

And yeah, I'd go and bite the sod who failed to stop after hitting an animal. Chomp chomp.

What an arsehole. I just can't believe people don't stop when they hit animals, especially domestic ones.

I heard about this on the radio yesterday morning. I had a completely different picture in my head when they said the dog was "embedded in the grill".

Oh blimey yes - very popular car in this country. I don't think they make them big enough for Americans is all. I've owned 2 Peugeot 205s myself.

I had the same reaction when my ex husband stayed up to watch the infamous Tyson/ Holyfield fight with a group of friends. When he came to bed and responded to my sleepy question with the answer, "Tyson bit Holyfield's ear off" I lay awake for ages, with visions of a baying crowd approving, while Tyson ran around the ring, shaking the large piece of grisly tissue in his teeth like a dog.
