April 9, 2009: Peacekeeper

Peacekeeper missile testing at the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.

Quote:
This is a long exposure photo showing the paths of the multiple re-entry vehicles deployed by the missle. One Peacekeeper can hold up to 10 nuclear warheads, each independently targeted. Were the warheads armed with a nuclear payload, each would carry with it the explosive power of twenty-five Hiroshima-sized weapons.
Kumbaya hippie.

I approve of multiple warheads on missiles. It is like carpooling, and so reduces the greenhouse gas emissions associated with nuclear anihilation.

What with nuclear winter following an all out "nucular" war, some greenhouse gases wouldn't come amiss.

That one worked really well. Just like in the brochure!

That could ruin North Korea's whole day.

I have visited this site for years and love the cellar pics. I had to join today to clear something up.

That photo is NOT time lapsed...the warheads come in at a huge speed of mach 20 or there abouts. There is so much kinetic energy in a warhead alone that even without a bomb load, they can be used as weapons! When they hit the water, they create a 600 ft tall plume.

I used to work at a company that make the equipment that tracked the rocket and warheads during tests. Someone at work had a pic that looked like that. I asked if that was a time lapsed photo of the reentry vehicles...he then explained how it was a snap shot...

maybe just a slow exposure in low light. you can see that the clouds have tooo much definition for it to be true time lapse.
