Aug 29, 2009: Tomatina
We can't let one of Undertoad's favorite festivals pass by without a peek.

40,000 people, 100 tons of tomatoes, blah, blah, blah... This is really what it's all about. ![]() Come to think of it, isn't that what everything is about? ![]() link

There's even one in Bruce's second picture, her face is just obscured by the dude's hand.

I dunno. that's just a person with a shirt on. and the legs look pretty hairy.
ETA: Oh, okay, the other person whose face is obscured. Didn't see her at all! |

What a waste...
I've always felt strongly about this specific culture tradition. I've always hated the "we do it because we can" attitude since it's backward and ignorant. Especially when across the channel in Africa are millions of hungry people. I'm sure patron saints, St. Louis Bertrand, supposedly what this tradition honors would feel loved and proud knowing over hundred metric tons of tomatoes are wasted every year in his name. People are stupid.

Ma: Look at all this leftover food. Are there still starving children in Europe?
Baby: Try Southeast Asia, Ma. Ma: Right. Daddy: Robbie, Baby wants to send her leftover pot roast... to Southeast Asia, so anything you don't finish, wrap up.
