football pool

Ok.... So I tried this last year, and no one gave a crap....or I did it wrong.

I think this year, I'll try it like most office pools. No spread.....just pick the teams that win. Most wins takes the pool.

I'd like to make this interesting with some sort of virtual wager, though. I was thinking about starting every one that wants to participate off with 5 cellar bucks per remaining game. The entry fee for the pool would be 5 CBs and the winner takes all. tie breaker being monday night's total points scored. person with the most points at the end of the season has the biggest wang.

Now.....VB has a credit system...but I don't know if tony has the inclination or the time to bend that to our will......

anyone have any interest in something like this?

It's a thing I've seen on a different VB site.

It's an add on I guess, as the vb user guide does not address it. It would be a way of keeping track of account balances for this pool thing....and any other wagers we wanted to make.... I could do it manually if it is a big deal. google has shared documents and stuff.....

so...i'll put up this week's games, and If you're interested in playing, post your picks and I'll put you on the list. if you want to wait to join until next week,...(game 6) you'll start out with 55 CBs......etc.

You're so funny.

you take an honestly random view of football don't you? Picking all home teams is another expression of the sentiment that had you picking your Fantasy players by their name strangeness.

I think home team advantage is a legitimate factor. Plus, I like it when I beat other people who actually know what they're talking about. One of my favorite lessons in economics class was the study where they had a stock broker, a class of sixth graders, and a monkey throwing darts pick their stocks for the quarter. Monkey made the most money, 6th graders came in second. Stock broker lost money.

I bet all my Cellar Bucks (and the ensuing reputation of my wang) that I'm in the top half of players at the end of this pool.

This is my strategy: pick the opposite of whoever WHuP picks.

It's kind of like him trying to get me to trade half my fantasy team for half his not-so fantasy team.

I'm stupid, but I'm not THAT stupid.

Sure. (Unless it's irritating for me to mess up the fun of legitimate players, in which case I'll cut it out. But I figured since it was for Cellar Bucks, it would be okay.)
