I like Carl Edwards

Last night I happened to watch the last half of what I believe was the last NASCAR race for this year, sorry, I don't have any further details.

Anyway, Edwards was duelling with Busch for the lead. About 15 laps to go, there was a safety car, Edwards came in for new tires. On the restart Edwards was about 10 places back, but able to go faster for the new rubber. He drove fast, bold and skillful, got to second place behind Busch with a about four laps to go. He kept pushing it, nibbling at the lead, and on the final corner made a big lunge, as a final roll of the dice.

He came up behind Busch, on a trajectory that would have seen him nudge Bush, which would probably have spun Busch and given the race to Edwards.

Edwards eased off on the throttle to prevent the collision.

He tried an unlikely ploy down the outside, very nearly lost the back, held it, and finished with the second place trophy and a big bucket of respect from me.

He was interviewed, and apart from the most awesomely incongruous mentions of his sponsors, explained (something like) "I really wanted to win the race, but not by ramming someone".
