When I saw the tree and the golf cup, I figured there was no way I had a shot at this category. But I thought the rock walls of this wash were pretty cool, and they did have a neat texture, so...

I love the way bark looks and feels. I took about forty pictures of twenty or so trees and although this one wasn't initially my favourite, preferring the textures in some of the others, I selected it in the end because I liked the way the light hit the tree.
