Cobain's Journal

So I leave the country for a week and I find that Newsweek has published excerpts from the about-to-be-published Kurt Cobain journal in my absence. It confirms what fans, or even those like me who were just entering adolescence when his words and music struck us as relevant musings have always known: that he was a tortured soul that was just as fucked up as the rest of us, and most likely more.

So anyway, here's the link. Most of you have probably already seen this, but I just got back in touch with the Internet, so I just heard about it.

I don't find the "new" song to be that great, but I'm glad to see Nirvana getting some press again. There's a whole new generation of fans out there...and I suspect that they will look at Nirvana in the same way that people my age look at Jimi Hendrix: great talent that left us way too soon.

Not to offend anyone-

Beavis told me that only the names were changed, and also mumbled something about the guy from Puddle of Mudd that made the hair stand up along the back of my neck. I dare not say it here, but I know he is right in my own way. As we winded down yesterday evening with a few cold ones and a couple of highballs, he reminded me that Cobain also wrote the first Hole album as well and that made me feel so warm inside as I smiled and drifted off into a very peaceful slumber.
